Starting signal for largest solar plant in Freiburg

Deponie Eichelbuckrelatio has to connect a 2,5-MW project to the grid in 2011 / This week construction works started

Balingen/Freiburg. Now the starting signal officially took place: Since two weeks relatio has realized an exceptional project together with the solar city Freiburg: On a former landfill they construct a 2.5 MW photovoltaic plant on an area of 17.500 square meters. Currently works for foundation and construction of frames are running.

Not only the immense size of the plant is ambitious, but also the time schedule of the entire project. The huge plant in the area Breisgau shoud be connected to the grid within this year. The reason for that is obvious: From the beginning of 2012 the feed-in tariff will be reduced once again. Even for the solar experienced city Freiburg the building project is the most extensive one and five times larger than the up to now lagers PV plant in the city. Furthermore it’s the second largest plant according to their kind in the entire federal state Baden-Württemberg. The annual requirement of 1000 households will be covered with the produced electricity. relatio realizes the 2,5 MW project in cooperation with the company Diehl AKO from Nuremberg, which supplies 112 required string inverters.

The persons in charge from the solar company situated in Balingen are glad that Freiburg just choose relatio: „They trust in our competence. Of course with good reason“, says relatio Managing Director Bernd Bodmer. His company projected and built several highly dimensioned PV projects domestically and in foreign countries. A number of them came into being on problematic ground and under extreme climatic requirements: weather conditions from minus 20 up to plus 40 degrees. The PV specialist from Balingen certainly profits from its know-how in plant manufacturing on difficult areas in regards to this mammoth plant in the area Breisgau. Also planers and constructors have to deal with complex construction conditions during the realization of this plant. Furthermore the structural frames for the modules mustn’t penetrate the sealing of the landfill in no case. Besides the specialists have to bring up all their expertise due a gradient of 22 degrees. “The modules are justified dissimilarly and differ in their slope.,” describes Jörn Menke, Managing Director of relatio Nord, “the Platinum string inverters produced by Diehl AKO are especially efficient for such an implementation.“
