6 % rate of return doesn't suffice for counties

thumb_Bernd_Bodmer_relatio_2009Dear Mr. Bareiß:

On occasion of your visit to our office premises, you were of the option that 6 % rate of return would absolutely suffice for solar parks. Despite of the planned reduction of the German feed-in tariff, returns would still be considerably higher than the government securites. You would not expect that investors would not buy any solar parks because of the reduction of remuneration for feeding.

As I told you in my e-Mail, which unfortunately remains unanswered, I received a letter on 02/05/2010 containing the cancellation of a tendering procedure. We applied for this 275 kWp top-roof plant in December. The project was announced by a county. We thought that it would be highly interesting, as the plant should have been realized on the roof of a landfill's digester.  <read more>

According to the county, the serious reason for cancelling the procedure is the following:

"Due to the planned modification of the Renewable Energy Law (EEG) in reducing the feed-in tariff of 15 % for solar current produced on roofs, which will be effective on 04/01/2010, the announced photovoltaic plant is not profitable anymore."

Obviously our fellow party members from this county do not agree in your opinion concerning the rate of return. It's needless to say that I regret the cancellation of this project, but also would like to point out, that I agree to the county's argumentation.

Sincerely,

Bernd Bodmer
